Shoneen Alexander-Ross is the Chief Performance Officer of the Department of Health. The Chief Performance Officer is the executive responsible for the overall performance improvement activities of the Health System including accreditation readiness, quality management, patient safety, risk management, infection prevention, compliance, patient advocacy, performance management, and the development of policy recommendations for effective performance improvement.
Prior to joining the Department of Health as the Statistician-Epidemiologist in November 2010, she served as the Health Promotion Disease Prevention Coordinator and Performance Improvement-Compliance Officer for Indian Health Service in the Pawnee Service Unit. While working for Indian Health Service, she served as the chair of the national performance measures committee at the service unit and she was selected to serve as a member of the IHS National Health Communications Team.
Ms. Alexander-Ross holds a Master of Public Health in Health Administration and Policy from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and a Bachelor of Science in Health Science from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. She has a certificate of public health management from the University of Washington School of Public Health. She is an ISO9001:2008 Lead Auditor for International Quality Management Systems with Applications for Healthcare and a volunteer site surveyor for the Public Health Accreditation Board.
Ms. Alexander-Ross currently serves on the Department of Health Governing Board as well as various committees. Her professional affiliations include the National Association of County and City Health Officials, National Association of Healthcare Quality, American Society for Quality, National Medical Group Management Association, and the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society.
