Hospital Administrator, Okemah & Wetumka

“I hope that when young Native girls see women in leadership positions, they realize that their dreams are possible.”

What inspired you to pursue a career in healthcare leadership?

My mom was often ill throughout my high school days. I was always involved in caring for her. That helped me realize I had a strong desire to help others. Being able to support and care for people during times when they are not at their best is incredibly meaningful to me.

What drew you to serve the communities of Okemah and Wetumka?

I grew up within the MCN health system at the old Okemah clinic and hospital. My father was Creek, so I was raised around the culture, traditions, and language. These communities are deeply connected to my roots and serving here feels like giving back to the place that shaped who I am. It truly feels like home to me.

What does it mean to you to represent Native women in a leadership role?

It means a great deal to me. I hope that when young Native girls see women in leadership positions, they realize that their dreams are possible. I want them to know they can achieve anything they set their minds to, as long as they are willing to put in the work and remain committed to their goals.

As Hospital Administrator, what is most important to you when leading your team and supporting patient care?

One of the most important things to me is considering how people feel throughout their experience in our hospital and clinics. A positive healthcare experience should create a sense of care and respect for patients, their families, and our staff. When people feel valued and supported, it leads to better care and better health outcomes.

What advice would you give young women who are interested in careers in healthcare?

Don’t give up when things feel difficult. There will be challenges along the way, but those challenges help you grow. One day you will look back and realize that the valleys made you stronger and better prepared for the future.
