MCN Health Celebrates Ribbon Cutting for Redeveloped Walker Hall
TULSA, OK — MCN Health joined Muscogee Nation leadership, community partners and Mental Health Association Oklahoma to celebrate the ribbon cutting for the redeveloped Walker Hall, a residential program that will provide transitional housing and supportive services for Native youth ages 16–18.
Walker Hall is supported through a first-of-its-kind partnership for Native juveniles in Oklahoma and represents a significant investment in the future of Muscogee youth. The program offers an alternative to detention placement by creating opportunities for youth to receive support, stability and guidance.
The new partnership originated from conversations nearly a year ago between representatives from the Muscogee Nation Department of Health, MCN Department of Community and Human Services, Tribal Juvenile Justice Program and Mental Health Association Oklahoma. The collaboration was developed to address the need for additional resources and supportive housing options for Native youth.
MCN Health funded the first year of the program, helping quickly move the shared vision for Walker Hall from discussion to reality.
“We are not just talking about our commitment to expanding mental health services and programs for Native youth — we’re making it happen,” said Shawn Terry, Muscogee Nation Secretary of Health. “We invested in Walker Hall because we want to create a real path forward for young people who need support, stability and opportunity.”
Kyle Sprangle, MCN Health Director of Behavioral Health Services, said the vision for Walker Hall began years ago.
“Several years ago, conversations began about the hopes and dreams for how we can better support our youth, and a facility like Walker Hall was on that list,” Sprangle said. “Today, that dream becomes a reality.”
